GitMind Skills Installation and Usage Guide

GitMind supports GitMind Skills (Skill Extensions). After installation, you can use GitMind’s common capabilities via dialogue on Agent platforms such as Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Codex, and others. Capabilities include:

• Automatically generating mind maps, flowcharts, and infographic structures
• Organizing notes, meeting minutes, article outlines, and study materials
• Reading content in GitMind and continuing AI-driven analysis
• Converting complex ideas into structured diagrams for easier editing, sharing, and collaboration

Preparation Before Installation

Before installing, make sure you have the following ready:

1. A compatible Agent platform such as Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Codex, or any AI Agent client that supports file upload / Skills / custom commands.
2. The GitMind Skills ZIP package, available from the GitHub Releases page.
3. A logged-in GitMind account in the web app.

Method 1: Install via Direct ZIP Upload through Agent Dialogue

Step 1: Download the GitMind Skills ZIP file
Open the download page: GitHub Releases
Download the GitMind Skills ZIP file from the Assets section of the latest Release. No need to unzip.

Step 2: Send the ZIP file to your Agent
Open your Agent platform (Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI, Claude Code, etc.) and upload the ZIP file directly into the chat.

Step 3: Instruct the Agent to install the Skill
After uploading, send one of the following instructions:

• Please install this GitMind Skills so I can later call GitMind’s mind map, flowchart, infographic structure, and content organization capabilities.
• Or a more precise instruction:
  Please read the contents of this ZIP file and configure it as GitMind Skills available for the current project. When I request mind maps, flowcharts, infographic structures, or GitMind content organization, please prioritize using this Skill.

Step 4: Have the Agent verify the installation
Send:
Please confirm whether GitMind Skills has been installed successfully and tell me how to call it.
If the Agent can recognize the Skill’s documentation and display its capabilities, usage instructions, or installation path, the setup is basically complete.

Step 5: Send GitMind-related requests and complete authorization
After installation, send a GitMind-related request, e.g.:
Using GitMind Skills, please generate a mind map for “User Growth Strategy.”
The first time you use it, the Agent may prompt for OAuth authorization. Follow the link, log in to your GitMind account, and confirm authorization.
After authorization, return to the Agent and send:
I have completed GitMind authorization. Please continue executing the previous task.
The Agent can then continue calling GitMind Skills to generate mind maps, flowcharts, infographic structures, or organize content.

Method 2: Install from GitHub Releases Page

Step 1: Open the GitMind Skills download page
In your browser, go to: GitHub Releases
You will see a list of GitMind Skills versions. It is recommended to download the latest version at the top.

Step 2: Download the ZIP file
In the latest Release, find the Assets section.
Click the ZIP file (e.g., gitmind_skills_2026.05.29_171120.zip) to download. Keep the ZIP file without unzipping.

Step 3: Go to the Agent platform Skills settings
Example using Claude:

1. Open Claude
2. Go to the Settings in the lower-left or account area
3. Select Customize
4. Enter Skills
5. Click + and choose Create Skill or Upload a Skill
6. Upload the GitMind Skills ZIP file

The Skill will appear in your Skills list.

Step 4: Enable GitMind Skills
Make sure the Skill is switched on. Once enabled, the Agent will automatically determine whether to call GitMind Skills when you make related requests.

Step 5: Test whether installation is successful
Send a test instruction:

• Please use GitMind Skills to generate a mind map for “AI Product Growth Strategy.”
• Or: Please call GitMind Skills to organize the following content into a mind map structure.

If prompted for OAuth authorization, follow the link, authorize, and return to the Agent chat:
I have completed GitMind authorization. Please continue generating the previous mind map.
If the Agent can recognize GitMind Skills and execute the task, installation and authorization are successful.

Generic Installation Methods for Other Agents

If your Agent platform does not have explicit Skills support, you can use the following methods:

Method A: Direct ZIP upload

1. Download GitMind Skills ZIP
2. Upload it to the Agent chat
3. Send:
   Please read and install this GitMind Skills. When I need mind maps, flowcharts, infographic structures, notes organization, or GitMind content analysis, please follow this Skill’s instructions.
4. Test with a GitMind request
5. Complete OAuth authorization if prompted

Method B: Upload unzipped files

1. Unzip the ZIP locally
2. Locate SKILL.md
3. Upload SKILL.md and associated files to the Agent
4. Send:
   Please use these files as GitMind Skills. Follow SKILL.md instructions for all GitMind tasks.
5. Test with a GitMind request
6. Complete OAuth authorization

Method C: Place in project directory
For developers or local Agents:

1. Create directory: agent-skills/gitmind/
2. Place GitMind Skills files there
3. Tell the Agent:
   Please read agent-skills/gitmind/SKILL.md and use it as the current project’s GitMind Skills. Follow this file for all related tasks.
4. Complete OAuth authorization when first requested

After installation and authorization, you can call GitMind Skills as follows:

• Generate mind maps
  Using GitMind Skills, please organize “New Product Launch Plan” into a mind map.
• Generate flowcharts
  Using GitMind Skills, please create a flowchart for “User Registration to Paid Conversion.”
• Organize meeting minutes
  Please use GitMind Skills to structure the following meeting notes.
• Generate infographic
  Using GitMind Skills, please create an infographic structure for “AI Education Product Growth Strategy.”
• Read GitMind content and continue dialogue
  Please use GitMind Skills to read my GitMind content and summarize key points, risks, and next steps.
• Save as inspiration
  Please use GitMind Skills to save this conversation as inspiration.

FAQ

1. Agent doesn’t auto-install after uploading ZIP
   Send:
   Please unzip this file, read SKILL.md, and install it as GitMind Skills. Prioritize this Skill for all related tasks.
2. Agent doesn’t know when to call GitMind Skills
   Prefix your requests with “Using GitMind Skills,” e.g.:
   Using GitMind Skills, please generate a flowchart.
3. Why is GitMind authorization needed after installation?
   Installation only provides the Agent instructions and access points. OAuth ensures the Agent has permission to use your GitMind account. First-time generation of mind maps, flowcharts, infographic structures, or content analysis may trigger authorization.
4. Do I need to authorize every time?
   Usually no. Only required for first-time use, expired authorization, switching Agents, changing browsers, or clearing login state.
5. Do I need to unzip the ZIP file?
   Platforms like Claude usually support ZIP upload directly. Only unzip if the Agent cannot read ZIP.
6. How to confirm installation success?
   Send:
   Please tell me if you have read GitMind Skills and summarize which tasks you can perform now.
   Then test with:
   Using GitMind Skills, please generate a test mind map.
